Former
world kickboxing star Billy Murray says he is in the shape of his
life, following time spent in a training camp in Lanzarote.
The veteran moved his team to the Gran Meliá Volcán
in the foothills of Lanzarote
volcano last week to ready himself for his final return to the ring.
"We have been working harder than for any fight in my life,"
said Murray. "We rise at dawn
for six miles on the road, then follow it with some light weights.
After
breakfast, we spar and follow that with some pad-work. In the afternoon,
there is more sparring and then an evening run. I’m out here
with a nutritionist, a boxing specialist and Gary Hamilton –
Belfast’s featherweight world champ. We’ve been running
so hard
that Hamilton has blisters."
Murray
will face old adversary Norm Graham in a clash in the Ulster Hall
on June 13. It’s a fundraiser for a friend seriously ill with
cancer.
The four-time world champion – now a mighty 47-years-old –
is hoping to go out with a triumphant win.
Ringside is sold-out there are a few £15
tickets available from the ProKick 24 hour hotline on 02890 651074.
